1.Buying a guitar : Go to a music store and ask for help.Those guys know a lot about guitars and what would be the best option for you.They'll help you chose the best and within your budget.It's very important to have the right guitar for learning.If you don't have the right guitar you could probably end up giving up learning.Try brands like Gibson,Takamine,Taylor,Martin etc.These are some expensive guitar that would easily serve you for a long time.

2.Find A Teacher : This is a very important task.You must find the right teacher who knows stuff inside out.You don't wanna be stuck with someone who's in it for the money and lacks sufficient knowledge.If you are unable to find a good teacher then don't be afraid to start on your own.Take help from books or surf millions of guitar teaching websites.Remember most of world's best musicians were self taught.

3.Start Learning : Start with the basic chord structures.Do the research first.Learn how to read the chord charts.They are pretty simple.Just stay focus on the numbers on the charts. Practice them nice and slow and for couple of hours.

4.Find Influences : Before you jump into playing any song find your influences.What kind of music do you like?Who's your favorite guitarist?It's always helpful to look up to them.

5.Pick A Song : Now that you have your song try and figure out the chords on your own.If you need help somewhere look up for tabs on the internet.They are not always accurate but give a good idea.Learn one song at a time it may be a slow step but it'll take you far and wide.

6.Practice : This is the most important step.Practice Practice Practice until you become PERFECT , that's what every great musician in the world does.
